"All WE need is love, love is all we need."
Yes, it HAS been two months since I last wrote! And I said I would try to do this every week. Well, I could go
nto all sorts of reasons why I haven't written in two months, but I won't. I'll just promise to do much better from
here on out. It's not like there isn't enough going on in the world, after all (like, there is that entire Michael
Jackson "thing" going on, but I've decided to not pay any attention).
Well, I was listening to the Howard Stern morning radio show a week or so ago, and a caller really got under
my skin, and I just have to tell you all what that ass said, what he actually DID! But, before I continue, I want to
give you a little background.
I don't want to get all into my personal views concerning the Biblical aspects about same sex lovers. That is
not the purpose of my writing. However, I will tell you that despite my own mother's weird personal
interpretations of the Saint James version, and what she has told me over the years (funny how she is always
pointing out someone who is "gay"--so she says--but didn't know when one of my best friends was Gay, even
when meeting his partner on several occasions), I can tell you that I don't believe it is my place to judge others.
The writings in the Bible is not about hate and teaching one to hate, that I know for sure.
Just recently, my own personal views about Gays and Lesbians was brought out for the first time to be viewed
by the public and was questioned in the last place I expected it to happen, my own Yahoo group. One of the
things I try to do in my group is keep an atmosphere of tolerance and general acceptance of all by all, therefore
I urge my members to always watch their "P's and Q's", be pleasant at all times, remember that there are
children in the group, and be careful about topics and language that could be considered offensive by someone
else in the group. And everything was going along fine, until someone posted and asked,
"*Cough* Well, this may be a weird question, but for the writing contest, do you guys mind gay sims?"
My first reaction was, "I don't"; but, then I stopped and thought about what type of responses an answer like
that could possibly bring to the group. I've been involved in discussions about this very topic at other Sim related
groups and boards, and they have always became heated and ugly, and I didn't want to start something at my
OWN group. So, I chose my words very carefully and tried to answer as best I could without directly giving out
my own personal views, and without hurting this person's feelings. I ended stating, "it is a topic that I deem
inappropriate for this group and for The FantaSim Tales."
Whoa! You would not believe what type of trouble THAT got me into. Not only did one of my members speak
out, claiming I wanted " NO recognition of gays" in my group and compared me to the KKK, but I got two
personal emails from group members, one very heated telling me off before he quit the group. I had to send him
TWO personal emails, write an apology and explanation to the group, and write another long "hey, it's cool,
really" to the other member before things got straightened out!
Both of the members who contacted me are Gay and are people who I like on a personal level which is why I
had to work so hard to make sure they understood what had happened, what I meant by what I wrote, and to
accept my apology. We are closer friends because of the incident (the one re-subscribing to the group after he
understood I wasn't saying that gays were "inappropriate"). They've since shared with me how difficult their
lives have been, and how at first they each feared that I was a hate monger.
ME? A HATE MONGER? Never in my entire life has anyone thought that of me. Never in my life has anyone
called me anything even remotely close to that. Me, hate someone who didn't do anything personal to me or
omeone else, hate someone just for existing? Please!
Which brings me to the caller on the Howard Stern Show. He originally called to ask Howard's advice on
something having to do with spending time in jail. Of course, Howard and Robin began asking him questions like,
"what did you do?", and "how long are you in for?" I wasn't paying that close attention at first, but as this story
became more and more bizarre, I stopped what I was doing to listen more closely. And this is the jerk's story as
best as I remember:
He's a self-proclaimed Gay hater, and one night he decided to go have some fun at the expense of an
innocent anyone. He had bought a NYPD uniform shirt, which anyone can buy on a street corner according to
Howard and Robin, and had put it on underneath another regular shirt, and grab some handcuffs. He went to a
known Gay bar and picked up a guy who was willing to "have a private good time" (my words), took him off to a
known outdoors hangout for Gays and actually had his poor victim perform oral sex on him. Then the asshole
proceeded to take off his outer shirt and announced that he was the police, handcuffed the guy who did not resist,
and told him that he was under arrest.
What happened next was unexpected by the ass: his victim was married and began to beg him not to arrest
him, asking the asshole "officer" if there was some other way that they could handle this problem without him
going to jail. The man was in so much shock that he didn't realize that he wasn't doing anything wrong, that the
"arrest" had not been handled properly, that the "officer" did not show a badge or even tell him what he was
being arrested for (the asshole, by the way, laughed, saying that all of his victims reacted this way, most of them
were family men or had jobs where an arrest could hurt their careers). It happens that the victim had six hundred
dollars on him, and the asshole TOOK HIS MONEY and let him go!
He, being the ass that he is, thought that was such a cool way to make some extra money, that he then after
purposely went out nightly to harass these poor men, fraudulently taking their money, and he didn't think
anything was wrong with this!!! This big royal ASSHOLE actually thought it was fun, saying "they" (not seeing
them as people or victims of his own evilness) DESERVED IT!!
AAACCKKKK!! I'm getting angry again thinking about it!!
Of course, Howard and Robin were stunned by what this man was saying, but this jerk thought the questions
they were asking as they probed to get a clearer sense of what he did was instead their way of joining in on how
cool his "prank" was. He was enjoying telling his story! But, Howard's guest for the day, a comedian I didn't
know, couldn't hold back and had started very sarcastically harassing this guy himself! The jerk became
confused, didn't know who was speaking to him and asking why the person didn't get it?! What an IDIOT!
Anyway, it turns out that the jerk was caught because he had been set up, and one night a REAL cop was
putting handcuffs on HIS wrists! Would you believe the ass was pissed for being caught? And he thinks the six
years he got was too long for something, that he called, "no big deal". He is such a sick moron that he didn't
even think that impersonating an officer or receiving money under fraudulent circumstances or preying on
innocent people for personal gains is a CRIME!
The caller never was able to ask his original question, the reason for his call in the first place. Howard got
him off the phone, saying, "have fun in jail", when he couldn't take it any longer. After he and his staff were over
the shock of the call and how the idiot had the audacity to speak of his crime as "no big deal", they proceeded to
make fun of him for the rest of the morning radio show.
And I agree with Howard and Robin and everyone else in the studio that day, six years is NOTHING for what
that man did. What's up with our justice system anyway? I'm sorry, I see that as a hate crime on TOP of
everything else the man did that was very illegal and VERY morally wrong! And he only gets six years?
I can't think of any witty way to end this. I detest his behavior and it makes me ill to think we walk on the
ground of the same nation and both call ourselves Americans. And, therefore, I just had to get this off of my mind
and on to "paper". So here it is.
If you have something to say on this issue, why not say it in my guest book by clicking here?
Oh, and if you're so inclined, have a MATURE open mind and an equally open heart, I invite
you to read a story written by one of my previously mentioned friends: "Territory"
